Holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy murder trial declines all media requests

The lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial has formally refused all media interview requests, according to a statement posted by his lawyer, Edward Andrew Paltzik, on X. Paltzik wrote, “While I appreciate and respect the numerous understandable media requests that have poured in this evening regarding our American Hero and Champion of Justice, he will not be giving any interviews at this time. None. Zero.” He added that he himself will not be speaking on the juror’s behalf.

Background on the mistrial

The Massachusetts Superior Court judge declared a mistrial on Sept. 4 after the 12‑person jury, composed of nine women and three men, repeatedly deadlocked. The foreperson issued deadlock notices twice, noting that one juror was not applying the reasonable‑doubt standard and was blocking a unanimous verdict. After a third deadlock, Judge William Sullivan ordered a mistrial.

The jury was tasked with deciding whether Lindsay Clancy was guilty of murdering her three children—Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months—by strangling them with exercise bands on Jan. 24, 2023. The prosecution sought first‑degree murder, while the defense argued she suffered postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors countered that she was fully aware of her actions and had pre‑planned the killings.

Juror’s stance and public reaction

According to Paltzik, the holdout juror, identified on social media as Michael P. Desronvil, maintains that the evidence proved Clancy knew exactly what she was doing and planned the murders. Desronvil’s statements on X emphasized the physical evidence, key witnesses, and prosecution presentation as sufficient for conviction.

Other jurors have described Desronvil as disengaged, with one juror noting he often scrolled on his phone during deliberations. Despite these observations, Desronvil insists he never doubted the case against Clancy.

Next steps in the case

Prosecutors for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts must now decide whether to retry Clancy. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington has filed a motion to drop the charges, and a hearing on the matter is scheduled for Sept. 29. Meanwhile, Clancy’s former husband, Patrick Clancy, and his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, are set to speak on “60 Minutes” about the case.

Paltzik asked the public to respect Desronvil’s privacy, urging people to stay away from his home and refrain from contacting him. He indicated that more information may be shared in the coming days on an appropriate timeline.
