On August 2, 1867, a group of 26 US soldiers and six civilians were attacked by several hundred Sioux warriors in what is known as the Wagon Box Fight. Historian Donovin Sprague recently gave a talk about this battle, which was also referred to as “They Surrounded the White Tents” by the Native American tribes involved.
