Hillsborough County Traffic Alert

Hillsborough County drivers should prepare for overnight delays as crews conduct roadwork across several major interstates and state routes.

Road Closures

The Florida Department of Transportation District 7 released its construction schedule covering Sunday, July 26, through Saturday, August 1, detailing planned lane closures across interstates I-75 and I-275, along with primary routes including US 301, US 41, and State Road 60.

Commuters crossing Tampa Bay will see nightly closures on both major bridges. The I-275 Howard Frankland Bridge will undergo lane reductions from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. Meanwhile, eastbound traffic on the US 92 Gandy Bridge will face nightly closures starting at 6:30 p.m. and running until 6:30 a.m. from Sunday through Friday.

Interstate 75 will feature multiple work zones during the week, including overnight closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. at SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) and nightly closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from I-4 to Fowler Avenue.

Along I-275, crews will restrict lanes east of the Howard Frankland Bridge to Exit 39 (SR 60 West/SR 689) nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Additional closures will hit the stretch between Himes Avenue and Howard Avenue from Tuesday through Thursday, between 9 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Major surface roads will also see significant traffic shifts, including US 41 (22nd Street Causeway), US 92 (Hillsborough Avenue), and US 301.

Transportation officials advise motorists to allow extra travel time and use caution when driving through active work zones.
