High Desert Experiences 90° Heat and 35 MPH Gusts

Bend, Redmond, Prineville, and Madras are expected to experience peak afternoon highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Cooler conditions are expected along the East Slopes of the Cascades, with Sisters and Sunriver topping out in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The primary story today is the wind, with a strong northwest system bringing sustained winds up to 25 mph and widespread gusts hitting 35 mph. This, combined with low humidity and ongoing local fire season regulations, means elevated fire awareness is critical across the High Desert.

Once the sun sets, the northern breeze will pull the heat out of the desert, dropping overnight lows into the crisp upper 40s and lower 50s.
