The Television Academy announced its full list of nominees for the upcoming awards show, and Heated Rivalry was not included. Despite its massive popularity, the show is ineligible for Emmy nominations due to its foreign production.
Eligibility Rules
According to the Emmys’ rules and procedures, foreign television production is ineligible unless it is the result of a co-production between U.S. and foreign partners. Heated Rivalry, based on a Canadian novel, was produced in Canada and is original to Crave, a Canadian streamer.
However, one of the show’s breakout actors, Connor Storrie, received a nomination for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for hosting Saturday Night Live. The show is eligible for the International Emmy Awards, which will be held in November.
