HCC, Space Center Houston Partner

Houston Community College (HCC) and Space Center Houston have signed a memorandum of understanding, aiming to provide students with access to NASA-level science, hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workshops, interactive astronaut presentations, and immersive aerospace projects.

Partnership Details

The partnership, which was first discussed a year and a half ago when HCC Chancellor Margaret Ford Fisher met with William Harris, president and CEO of Space Center Houston, will give students the opportunity to engage in various activities, including competitions, camps, and training.

According to HCC Southwest President Michael Webster, the center has a range of activities available but needs students and participants to fill them, which HCC can provide. Webster also mentioned that there are plans for courses to take place this summer, although the exact location within HCC is still being determined.

Reaction from Officials

Chancellor Fisher stated that Houston is known for its contributions to space exploration and that this partnership will help learners develop skills, confidence, and capabilities needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Harris added that the partnership brings new opportunities to connect education, workforce development, and real-world experiences.
