The Harwood Museum of Art, based in Taos, has acquired the Peyton Wright gallery property in Santa Fe, marking a significant expansion for the museum. The new site, also known as the Spiegelberg House, is located on East Palace Avenue in Santa Fe.
Strengthening Connections
According to Executive Director Juniper Leherissey, the move aims to strengthen the connection between the Harwood Museum and the University of New Mexico, as well as broaden the reach of Taos art. Leherissey stated that the opportunity to join other exemplary arts institutions in Santa Fe will be transformational for both the museum and the university.
The new site is expected to open in two to three years, with the museum focusing on planning, partnerships, and community input in the meantime. Museum leaders also see long-term potential for student opportunities tied to the new space.
