A three-alarm fire broke out in Hartford on Thursday, displacing 20 people, including six children. The fire occurred on Edgewood Street, and the Hartford Fire Department responded to the scene just after 5 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, they found a heavy fire involving all the porches of the three-story brick building. A second alarm was immediately requested to bring in additional resources, and a third alarm was requested a short time later due to the extreme heat conditions.
Everyone inside the building managed to evacuate safely, and searches confirmed no one was inside. One firefighter sustained minor injuries, which were not heat-related.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the American Red Cross are helping the displaced individuals.
