Hartford Business Reopens

Refuge Tattoo and Taza Café, a family-run business in Hartford, has officially reopened after a devastating flood in February. The flood, caused by a burst pipe, forced the business to close for months while repairs were made.

A Fresh Start

Co-owners Jose Serrano and Yaritza Garrido were determined to rebuild and reopen their business. The reopening celebration marked the end of months of repairs and the beginning of a new chapter for the business. The owners’ daughters also played a role in the recovery effort, helping to clean up the shop during the rebuilding process.

Mayor Arunan Arulampalam attended the reopening celebration and praised the business’ resilience. “This is the thing that makes the city great,” he said. The business had been open for nearly two years before the flood and is now looking ahead to a busy summer of events.
