Hampden Mennonite Church will hold its first service in its new home, the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church, on Sunday at 10 a.m. The church, located at 1008 W. 37th St., was acquired by Hampden Mennonite Holdings LLC, an entity affiliated with the congregation, on April 13.
A New Chapter for the Church
The Mennonite congregation is moving from its previous location in the 1200 block of W. 36th St. in Hampden. As part of its transaction with the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Hampden Mennonite Holdings also acquired the former St. Thomas Aquinas School, a rectory, a convent, an outdoor play area, and 47 off-street parking spaces on a 1.2-acre parcel.
Pastor Nathan Zook said the congregation hopes to have a dedication ceremony with Mayor Brandon Scott after renovations are completed, possibly in August or September. Baltimore City Council member Odette Ramos is expected to attend the inaugural service on Sunday.
