Hamburger Mary’s, a drag bar and restaurant in Murray Hill, closed abruptly last week. The restaurant, located at 947 Edgewood Ave. S., had been open since last spring, after a devastating fire destroyed the chain’s previous Jacksonville location on Beach Boulevard.
Financial Difficulties
Customers learned about the closure from a handwritten sign posted on the door. Court records show a judge issued the business an eviction order on July 13, and the space is already listed for lease. Owner Jordyn Shepherd had publicly posted online about the restaurant’s financial difficulties in recent months, creating a GoFundMe page on July 5 seeking $7,000 in donations to help keep Hamburger Mary’s open.
