The family of the late Hal Marcus, a beloved artist from El Paso, Texas, is preserving his legacy through the creation of the Hal Marcus Art Foundation. This initiative, established under the Paso del Norte Community Foundation, aims to honor Marcus’ significant contributions to the arts community.
Foundation Launch and Projects
The foundation is set to launch on June 6, which would have been Marcus’ 75th birthday. The Paso del Norte Community Foundation announced that three major projects are planned for completion in 2026 and 2027. Among these is a memorial mural titled ‘The Cuatro Amigos,’ which will be a tribute to Marcus’ artistic vision and impact.
Additionally, Marcus’ home, which has been transformed into a museum, will offer tours showcasing his personal studio and mosaic garden. This initiative not only celebrates Marcus’ artistic achievements but also provides the community with an opportunity to engage with his work and legacy.
A Lasting Legacy
Hal Marcus passed away in April at the age of 74 after battling cancer. His family, through the foundation, seeks to keep his spirit alive by continuing to inspire and educate future generations of artists and art enthusiasts in El Paso and beyond.
