Guthrie Invests $1.5M in Water Mains

Guthrie city leaders are investing nearly $1.5 million to replace aging water mains, aiming to improve service reliability and prepare for future growth. The city council’s top priority in Guthrie is infrastructure, with a focus on clean water, fewer outages, and more reliable service.

City leaders say the funding will help replace aging water mains that have caused problems for years. “All of these lines, to our knowledge, are pre-1975,” said Eddie Faulkner, city manager for Guthrie. The impact of aging water lines has been seen across the metro, with dozens of water main breaks reported in Oklahoma City and Edmond.

Guthrie city leaders say this investment is about addressing those issues before they happen locally. The city plans to replace 1.5 miles of water lines, which will impact 100 homes. The funding comes from state-allocated ARPA funding, federal pandemic relief dollars that must be spent before the end of the year.
