The city of Greenville has started a $1.7 million road resurfacing project. Nineteen streets have been selected to be repaved as part of the project, which will be funded in partnership with the Greenville Legislative Transportation Committee. The project received $850,000 in state-matched funding.
Crews will begin work on Townes Street from West Elford Street to Park Avenue. Work is expected to continue until July 24. Sections of Randall Street and Whitehall Street will also be repaved from July 22-24.
The next phase of roads planned to be completed through July 31 includes other roads selected for resurfacing, which will be announced as the project progresses. According to the city, more than a dozen streets are expected to be repaved by the end of the year.
Drivers will see lane closures during the day as the roads are repaved and restriped. The streets will fully reopen at night. On-street parking will be prohibited during construction. Completion of the resurfacing work will be weather-dependent.
