The Green Bay Rockers faced a tough challenge as they attempted to extend their three-game winning streak against the Madison Mallards. In a closely contested game, the Rockers fell short by a single run, losing 4-3.
The Rockers took an early lead in the fourth inning when shortstop Michael Dee hit a double to left field, driving home Max Humphrey. Dee advanced to third base by stealing a bag but was left stranded when Payton Fort grounded out.
The Madison Mallards responded swiftly in the fifth inning, scoring four runs on five hits. Aaron Holland’s two-RBI double was followed by an RBI single from Dom Jacoby and an RBI double from Preston Youcher, giving the Mallards a lead they would not relinquish.
Green Bay attempted a comeback in the eighth inning, scoring two unearned runs due to an error by Mallards’ second baseman Jacoby. However, their efforts were not enough as the Rockers went down in order in the ninth inning, sealing their 4-3 defeat.
The Rockers will have another chance to face the Mallards on Sunday, with the game broadcast on 99.7 and 101.9 WNFL and available on the WNFL app at 1 p.m.
