Green Bay Police and Fire Declare Suspicious Package Outside Downtown Building Harmless

GREEN BAY, Wis. – At 8:46 a.m. on Friday, Green Bay Metro Fire crews were dispatched to a hazardous‑materials call in the 200 block of North Adams Street after a passerby reported a suspicious package outside a downtown building.

Rapid response by fire and police units

Fire personnel immediately requested assistance from a K9 officer trained in bomb detection, and the Green Bay Police Department was sent to the scene to coordinate the investigation. When the K9 arrived, the dog did not signal any explosive material, allowing responders to focus on other potential hazards.

Additional detection equipment used

Following the K9 assessment, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department’s Hazardous Response Team deployed supplemental detection equipment to rule out chemical, biological or radiological threats. The thorough sweep found nothing dangerous.

Contents of the package

Inside the sealed box, investigators discovered an American flag and a handwritten letter. Police took possession of both the container and its contents for further review. While the letter’s contents have not been released, officials emphasized that the items posed no risk to the public.

Police statement

“Based on the comprehensive testing performed by our fire and police teams, we do not believe there is any threat to the general public,” said a spokesperson for the Green Bay Police Department. The department will continue to investigate the motive behind the package, but residents can be assured that the situation has been fully resolved.

How the community can help

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448‑3200 and reference case #26‑244905. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (920) 432‑STOP (7867), submit a tip online at 432stop.com, or use the “P3 Tips” mobile app.

Public‑safety reminder

The swift cooperation between fire, police and the K9 unit demonstrates Green Bay’s commitment to keeping neighborhoods safe. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious items or activity to local authorities without delay.
