Green Bay, Wisconsin is gearing up for a significant milestone as the Bellin Run celebrates its 50th anniversary this weekend. To commemorate this occasion, race organizers have curated a special exhibit that delves into the event’s storied past, offering both nostalgia and insight for participants and visitors.
A Journey Through Time
Race Director Linda Maxwell expressed the importance of sharing the Bellin Run’s history with the community. ‘As an event that has been around for 50 years, it’s really special and we wanted to share our history with our participants. We wanted the people who have been there from the beginning to be able to reminisce, but the people who are younger and maybe weren’t around to understand what the history of our event looks like,’ she said.
The exhibit features a collection of vintage Bellin Run gear, including iconic 1970s short shorts, alongside newspaper articles and other memorabilia from each decade. Visitors can explore panels dedicated to each year of the race, showcasing race shirts, bibs, and intriguing news clippings and photos that capture the spirit of the event over the years.
Exhibit Details
The exhibit will make its public debut on June 12 from 3-8 p.m. at the Bellin Run Health and Fitness Expo in Astor Park. For those attending the race, the exhibit will also be accessible on race day, June 13, from 8-11 a.m., with the run starting promptly at 8 a.m.
This retrospective offers a unique opportunity for the community to celebrate a beloved local tradition that has brought together runners and spectators alike for half a century.
