Sen. Darline Graham and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-District 5) have advanced to a runoff election for the special Republican U.S. Senate primary, which will take place on August 25. The winner will replace the late Sen. Lindsey Graham on the November 3 ballot. Graham, a four-term senator, passed away on July 11 after securing the Republican nomination for a fifth term in the June primary.
Runoff Election Details
Darline Graham was appointed by Gov. Henry McMaster to fulfill her brother’s unexpired term. Norman has held his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives since June 20, 2017, when he won a special election to fill former Rep. Mick Mulvaney’s term. Voters who participated in the June Republican primary, or who did not vote in either party’s June primary, are eligible to cast a ballot in the runoff. Those who voted in the June Democratic primary are not eligible to vote in this election.
