Runoff Election
The runoff election is set for August 25. Graham and Norman will compete for the Republican nomination, with the winner facing Democrat Annie Andrews in the general election. Graham has been endorsed by President Donald Trump and has touted her work with him in her first three weeks in the Senate.
Norman, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, has long been a fiscal conservative and has been at odds with Trump on some issues. He has snapped up endorsements from several prominent Republicans, including Sens. Rick Scott of Florida and Mike Lee of Utah.
The special election was triggered by the sudden death of Lindsey Graham, who died on July 11. His sister, Darline, was appointed to serve the remainder of his term by Gov. Henry McMaster.
