Good Samaritan killed after crash on I-35W near Felix Street in Fort Worth

Fort Worth police confirmed that a tragic incident occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 35W near Felix Street, a busy corridor in the city’s south side. Around 2:30 a.m., a minor crash took place on the highway. A passing motorist pulled over to help the individuals involved in that initial collision, embodying the Good Samaritan spirit.

Fatal collision

While the Good Samaritan driver was attending to the original accident, another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction struck and killed the helper. The identity of the victim and any personal details have not been released by authorities.

Police response and investigation

Fort Worth Police Department officers arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. They have not yet announced whether the driver of the vehicle that caused the fatal impact has been arrested. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to piece together the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.

Impact on traffic

All lanes of I-35W were shut down for approximately four hours while emergency crews cleared the wreckage and conducted their investigation. The northbound lanes reopened at about 6:20 a.m., followed by the southbound lanes roughly twenty minutes later. The closure caused significant delays for commuters traveling through the area during the early morning rush.

Community reaction

Local residents expressed sorrow over the loss of a person who stepped forward to aid strangers in need. Community leaders emphasized the importance of road safety and urged drivers to exercise caution, especially during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced.

Official sources

The information in this report comes from statements released by the Fort Worth Police Department and traffic camera footage provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Both agencies are continuing to monitor the situation and will release further details as the investigation progresses.
