Golfing Friends Achieve Rare Back-to-Back Holes-in-One at Royal Liverpool

In a remarkable display of golfing prowess, two friends, David Lewis and Rob Davis, achieved back-to-back holes-in-one at the prestigious Royal Liverpool Golf Club. This rare event, which has odds of 156 million-to-one, took place on the 107-yard 15th hole, known as Little Eye.

Unbelievable Achievement

David Lewis, a 64-year-old property finder, and Rob Davis, a 67-year-old retired international risk and insurance worker, both used pitching wedges to accomplish this incredible feat. Despite not seeing where their balls landed, they were astonished to find both balls in the hole upon reaching the green.

Lewis, who resides on the premises of Royal Liverpool, has been an avid golfer since childhood and plays twice a week. He expressed his amazement at achieving this with a friend, noting the rarity of such an occurrence. Davis, who took up golf in his 50s and plays weekly, was thrilled to score his first hole-in-one on the challenging 15th hole.

Celebration and Reflection

The duo celebrated their achievement with lunch and drinks at the clubhouse, capturing the moment with photos. Their story has since captivated friends and family, who have been left in disbelief. Lewis remarked on the overwhelming number of messages he received, with some suggesting he buy a lottery ticket due to the extraordinary odds.

Royal Liverpool Golf Club, also known as Hoylake, is one of Britain’s most prestigious courses, having hosted the Open Championship 13 times. The club’s challenging conditions, particularly the wind on the 15th hole, make this achievement all the more impressive.

Both Lewis and Davis reflected on the significance of achieving such a rare feat together, emphasizing the special bond of friendship that made the moment even more memorable. Their story serves as a testament to the joys of shared experiences and the unpredictable nature of golf.
