Girls flag football is one step closer to becoming a sanctioned high school sport in Indiana. The Indianapolis Colts led the charge and made the announcement on the final day of the NFL Flag Football championships in Westfield.

The Colts have recruited 108 Indiana high school teams so far. There are 40 states that have high school girls flag football programs. Kentucky’s first girls flag football season will begin in spring 2027.
The Indiana High School Athletic Association could vote to officially sanction the sport as early as May 2027.
