Georgia Groom Tragically Killed in Helicopter Crash on Wedding Night

A wedding celebration in Dawsonville, Georgia, turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when a helicopter crash claimed the life of the groom, Dave Fiji, and left his bride, Jesni Fiji, injured. The couple had just celebrated their wedding at The Revere, a venue hosting about 400 guests, when they boarded a Robinson R66 helicopter for a dramatic sendoff to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport.

Tragic Accident

The helicopter, piloted by an unnamed individual who also perished in the crash, went down in a wooded area on a 10,000-acre tract managed as a wildlife management area by the state. Jesni Fiji, who survived the crash with cuts and bruises, awoke hours later to the devastating scene of her deceased husband, a first officer for Endeavor Air, resting on her. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident, with weather conditions reportedly challenging due to rain.

Family and Faith

George Fiji, the groom’s father, recounted the tragic events and emphasized the family’s reliance on their Christian faith to cope with the loss. ‘Without God, there would be many questions — why?’ he said. The couple, who met through church connections between South Carolina and Georgia, had been described as friends who decided to become life partners.

Community Mourning

The loss has deeply affected the community, with Endeavor Air expressing condolences for their colleague. ‘It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Endeavor First Officer Dave Fiji,’ the airline stated. As the family mourns, they find solace in their faith, seeking answers and peace in God during this difficult time.
