As summer temperatures rise in East Texas, the Fun Forest Pool in Tyler is set to reopen this Saturday at 10 a.m., inviting families from across the region to enjoy swimming and community activities. The city has been busy preparing the facility, with crews cleaning and repainting in anticipation of the summer season.
Affordable Family Fun
Recreation Manager Kandice Johnson emphasized the importance of keeping the pool accessible and affordable for local families. Admission for Tyler residents remains at $1 per person, while non-resident fees have increased slightly to $3. This year, the pool will also accept card payments, although cash remains an option.
Johnson highlighted the pool’s role in providing a recreational space for families who may not have access to private pools or the means to visit larger water parks. “Not everyone has a pool in their backyard, and not everyone can afford to get on the interstate and pay who-knows-what the prices are now to go to some of these water parks,” she said. “And even the pools that we have in Tyler, a lot of them are private. And so for us, the accessibility is the most important part.”
Safety and Community Events
Safety is a top priority, with lifeguards on duty throughout the summer. Visitors are encouraged to follow pool rules and listen to lifeguards to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
To celebrate the reopening, the city has planned a poolside movie night featuring “Lilo and Stitch” on Saturday evening, providing a fun and family-friendly event to kick off the season.
