The Fulmer Public Library in Sheridan is preparing to open its doors on Nov. 16, marking the final stage of a multi‑year renovation effort that has revitalized the branch for the community.
Renovation milestones
During a recent appearance on Sheridan Media’s Pulse, Public Library System Director Amy Long reported that most of the new carpeting has been installed and painting is “nearing completion.” Lighting work is “98% finished,” and staff are currently assembling shelving units throughout the building.
Long explained that the project was made possible by a grant approved in the fall of 2024. “We were able to get enough funding to do that, not just at the Fulmer Branch Library, but also at the other three branches,” she said. The three other branches were finished earlier this year, and the Fulmer branch is now on the “very, very tail end” of the grant timeline.
Community impact
The library’s reopening is expected to provide a safe, family‑friendly space for reading, learning, and community events. Residents have expressed excitement about the updated facilities, which will better serve families, students, and seniors alike.
Local officials have praised the project as an example of effective use of state and federal grant money to improve public services. The renovation aligns with Sheridan’s broader commitment to strengthening community institutions that support traditional families and uphold the values of faith and liberty.
Looking ahead
With the grant set to close soon, library staff are focused on completing the final touches and preparing programming for the reopening celebration. The library plans to host a series of events, including a family reading day and a local history exhibit, to showcase the new space.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Fulmer Public Library after Nov. 16 to experience the refreshed environment and take advantage of the expanded resources now available.
