A Rhode Island fugitive physician, Dr. Ronald Fischer, was recently captured after being on the run for more than two decades. He had been living in Los Angeles, where he ran a biotech company.
Dr. Fischer was accused of raping a woman on his boat in 2003 and was convicted in absentia of first-degree sexual assault. He was also wanted for failing to appear and flight to avoid prosecution.
The U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI, and Rhode Island police spent two days exploring new leads about Dr. Fischer before capturing him on a yacht off the coast of New York and New Jersey.
Dr. Fischer had been using the alias ‘Richard Graydon’ while running the biotech company on Olympic Boulevard. The company reported to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that he was dismissed for reasons not related to his work there.
