Lauren Jerden-Myers, a military spouse and realtor, has been named the 2026 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year for Ft. Carson. Despite the challenges that come with being a military spouse, Jerden-Myers has shown remarkable flexibility and dedication to her family and community.
Volunteering and Giving Back
Jerden-Myers and her husband, Staff Sergeant Edward Myers, volunteer with Project Angel Heart, an organization that provides medically-tailored meals to those in need. They also organize holiday meals for military families, with the help of several nonprofit donors and Care and Share Food Bank.
According to Jerden-Myers, food insecurity is a serious issue among military families, with 27.7% of U.S. active duty service members and their families experiencing food insecurity. She hopes to help bridge this gap by providing meals to those in need.
Last year, Jerden-Myers and her team were able to provide 1,000 full Christmas meals to military families. This year, she aims to beat that number by providing 1,500 meals.
