Background
Measure C has been in place for decades and has served the county well, but it is set to expire next summer. The Fresno County Board of Supervisors recently ordered a study on a potential replacement, known as Better Roads Safe Streets, but it is unlikely to be completed in time for the November election.
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer stated that the supervisors’ decision effectively killed any opportunity for the measure to be voted on this year, and that the city’s proposal is necessary to shield Fresno families from the potential devastating impacts of losing Measure C funding.
