Freeze Alerts Overnight, Red Flag Wind Warnings Sunday Across New Mexico

Parts of New Mexico will see freeze warnings and Sunday red flag warnings as overnight lows dip into the upper 20s and strong gusty winds push through the region, with gusts expected as high as 45 mph.

Saturday night should be mainly clear, allowing temperatures to fall below freezing late in the night across sections of northern New Mexico. Areas in eastern parts of the state are under freeze warnings from late Saturday night into the morning hours, with readings in some spots dropping to the upper 20s.

Dry, windy conditions will bring red flag warnings on Sunday. Those alerts run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., when winds could gust between 35 and 45 mph, creating elevated wildfire danger.

Beyond the wind and fire risk, Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny and generally calm across much of the state. Highs in the Albuquerque metro area will likely reach into the lower 70s, while southern New Mexico may see an increase in thin high clouds.
