Tuscaloosa residents and neighbors from West Alabama are invited to celebrate World Mental Health Day with a free, family‑friendly event on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Mental Health Alliance’s “We Are One” celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Heights Community Center, 3834 Twenty‑First Street.
What to Expect
Attendees can explore a “Journey to Wellness” that brings together local agencies, nonprofit groups and health providers. A wellness “passport” will guide participants to each vendor booth, where they can collect stamps and learn about services that support both mental and physical health.
Live music will fill the center’s lobby, while local fitness experts demonstrate exercise routines and offer tips for staying active. Free food, promotional items, door prizes and giveaways will be available throughout the day.
Why It Matters
Organizers say the event is designed to create an energetic, welcoming atmosphere where community members can connect directly with resources that often go unnoticed. By combining mental‑health education with movement and nutrition information, the celebration underscores the importance of holistic well‑being.
“Our goal is to educate, elevate and connect,” said a spokesperson for the Mental Health Alliance. “We want families, seniors, students and anyone interested in better health to leave feeling empowered and informed about the support available right here in Tuscaloosa and the surrounding area.”
How to Participate
Vendors and community organizations interested in joining the event must register by Thursday, Oct. 1. Admission for the public is free, and organizers encourage residents to bring friends, neighbors and anyone who could benefit from the resources on display.
For more information or to register as a vendor, visit the Mental Health Alliance website or contact the event coordinators directly.
