Indiana veterans who are blind or have low vision can receive a free pair of AI glasses through a two-day training in Indianapolis. The wearable technology, provided by Meta, helps individuals read documents, identify objects, and complete daily tasks. The AI glasses can read words in the user’s eye line, verbally describe surroundings, and scan QR codes.
Training and Eligibility
The training will be hosted by Bosma Enterprises, an Indianapolis nonprofit that supports people who are blind or have low vision, and the Blinded Veterans Association. To be eligible, veterans must be legally blind or have severe visual impairment that impacts daily life and independent living. Pre-registration is required to attend the training, which will be held on August 10 and 11 at Bosma Enterprises.
Veterans who participate in the training will receive a pair of AI glasses and learn how to use them. They must create a Meta account and download the Meta AI app prior to the training. This program is part of a national campaign by Meta to give out 130,000 glasses to veterans across the country.
