New York City – On Tuesday, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott rang the Closing Bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite, commemorating the 30th anniversary of Fox News Channel. The ceremony featured original on‑air talent Lauren Green, Trace Gallagher, Steve Doocy and Brit Hume, as well as Fox News Media President and Executive Editor Jay Wallace and other longtime employees now serving at the executive level.
Celebrating a milestone
Scott told the crowd, “It’s a tremendous honor to be here at Nasdaq as we celebrate a remarkable milestone, 30 years of Fox News.” She recalled how Fox Corporation Chairman Emeritus Rupert Murdoch launched the network with the goal of giving Americans another voice in the national conversation and providing balanced news coverage.
“Thirty years later, his vision has grown from one linear network to a multi‑platform powerhouse of digital, streaming, audio, books and beyond,” Scott said, crediting Fox Corp Executive Chair and CEO Lachlan Murdoch for continuing that expansion.
Reach and impact
Scott noted that Fox News Media platforms now connect with over 200 million people each month. She praised the journalists, producers, technicians, correspondents, executives and countless staff who “show up every day with inspiring skill, energy, determination, and a genuine commitment to their craft.”
She added that the network’s viewers have welcomed Fox News into homes, workplaces and daily lives, and that the next chapter of media is being shaped by new technology, platforms and ways of connecting with audiences.
Leadership and growth under Scott
Having joined Fox News in its inaugural year of 1996, Scott was inducted into the Broadcasting+Cable Hall of Fame and held several production and creative roles before becoming CEO in 2018. Under her leadership, Fox News has consistently dominated cable ratings, regularly outpacing broadcast competitors.
Scott also highlighted recent initiatives: the launch of Fox News Books in 2020, a brand refresh of Fox News Digital, Fox News Audio and Fox Business, and the creation of three streaming services – subscription‑based Fox Nation (2018), Fox News International (2020) and Fox Weather (2021).
Nasdaq ceremony
Nasdaq Executive Vice President Jeff Thomas presented Scott with a Closing Bell crystal, calling Fox News Media “one of the most recognized and influential media brands in the world.” The ceremony concluded with red, white and blue confetti raining down as Scott and longtime colleagues paused market transactions for the day.
