Fort Worth Zoo’s New Giraffe Needs a Name

The Fort Worth Zoo announced the birth of a female giraffe calf on May 31, 2026. The calf, born to mother Kala and father Apollo, stood 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighed 152 pounds at birth.

Help Choose the Calf’s Name

The zoo is inviting the public to help choose the calf’s name through an online vote. The three name options are Kumi, Honey, and Iris. Voting is open until June 27, when the winning name will be revealed.

The birth of the new giraffe increases the size of the zoo’s giraffe herd and marks another successful addition to its animal collection.
