Fort Worth students aged 13-16 participated in the inaugural Young Entrepreneur Summer Camp, a two-week event hosted by TechFW, Junior Achievement of Chisholm Trail, the Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department, Fort Worth ISD, and software development platform Lovable.
Developing Business Skills
The camp, which ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, aimed to expose young people to entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence. Several regional nonprofits submitted problems for the students to attempt to solve, and mentors, community partners, and coaches provided support and guidance.
Mayor Mattie Parker celebrated the young entrepreneurs during the post-pizza ceremony, announcing the pitch competition winners. The winning team, which included 14-year-old Makadence Joshua, pitched a digital app connecting nonprofits with volunteers.
Briana Wucinski, a marketing coach at TechFW, said the goal of the program was to expose young people to entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence. The camp plans to expand next year, opening up to a larger audience in the Fort Worth ISD.
