Terri Flow, a Fort Worth resident, is using her skills to help organize the decommissioning ceremony for the USS Fort Worth, the city’s eponymous ship. Flow, who has a passion for supporting the military, has been working with the USS Fort Worth Support Committee to make the ceremony a success.
Supporting the Military
Flow’s passion for supporting the military comes from her family. Her grandfather served in the Army Air Corps, and her grandmother supported him throughout his service. Flow’s grandmother also volunteered regularly, instilling in Flow a sense of volunteerism and community service.
Flow has been working with the USS Fort Worth Support Committee for several years, taking crew members to dinner and showing them around the city during their visits to Fort Worth. She has also visited the ship in San Diego each year since she joined the committee.
Decommissioning Ceremony
The decommissioning ceremony will take place on July 29 in California. The ceremony will include a prayer breakfast aboard the ship, with presentation of the morning colors and tours. A dinner will follow, with Lockheed Martin underwriting the meal for the ship’s active duty sailors.
Flow’s work on the support committee has earned her recognition in the community. She was recently featured in the 52 Faces of Community series, which highlights local unsung heroes.
