A Fort Worth neighbor fatally shot a man who was allegedly dragging a woman down the street while armed with a machete after the suspect reportedly approached the resident during the confrontation, according to police.

Officers with the Fort Worth Police Department responded to a report of a person with a weapon around 10:20 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of Ross Avenue, near the intersection of Ross Avenue and Northwest 29th Street.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
According to investigators, the incident began when an adult man and woman became involved in a verbal and physical altercation. Police said the man allegedly began dragging the woman down the street while carrying a machete. Witnesses told investigators they heard the woman screaming for help, prompting several neighbors to come outside.
One resident reportedly confronted the man and ordered him to stop. According to police, the machete-wielding man then approached the neighbor while still armed. The neighbor responded by firing at least one shot, striking the man.
Other witnesses called 911, and the neighbor remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Investigation Ongoing
The Fort Worth Police Department said no arrests have been made as of Monday, and the identities of those involved have not been released. Homicide detectives interviewed the neighbor following the shooting as part of the investigation.
Authorities have not released additional details about the condition of the woman or the events leading up to the altercation. Police said the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
