Fort Wayne has plenty to celebrate this week, with two uplifting milestones putting the city in the spotlight.
Safety Village, the beloved community program that teaches young children essential safety skills, is marking its 35th anniversary. For three and a half decades, the program has been a cornerstone of Fort Wayne’s commitment to keeping its youngest residents safe and informed — a testament to the enduring dedication of local educators, volunteers, and community partners who have kept it thriving year after year.
At the same time, Fort Wayne is playing host to the Power Soccer World Championships, an inspiring event that brings together athletes from around the globe who compete in power wheelchairs. WTHR highlighted the tournament as part of its “Inspiring Indiana” series, a fitting recognition of the determination and athletic excellence on display right here in the Summit City.
Together, these two events capture what makes Fort Wayne special: a community that invests in its children’s futures and opens its doors to welcome the world.
