Fort Smith residents are invited to meet the four city administrator candidates and provide feedback before the Board of Directors conducts final interviews. The public meet-and-greet is scheduled for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Pavilion.
Candidates and Qualifications
The candidates are acting City Administrator Jeff Dingman and three external applicants: Joseph Lessard, Richard McGill, and Robert Sivick. All three external candidates have experience in municipal or county government.
Residents will be able to speak individually with the candidates, ask questions, and submit comments for board members to review. The event will also allow city leaders to observe how the candidates interact with residents.
The city hired Colin Baenziger & Associates to conduct a nationwide search for the position. The firm began working with the city in March and recommended the three external candidates after meeting individually with members of the board to discuss the qualifications they wanted in the next administrator.
Next Steps
The Fort Smith Board of Directors will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Blue Lion before entering an executive session to interview Lessard, McGill, and Sivick. The board is expected to identify a finalist during its Aug. 4 meeting and begin negotiating an employment offer.
