Fort Dodge has approved paying more than $4 million to Crossroads Plaza Development as part of its redevelopment efforts.
Redevelopment Efforts
City documents say the payment is from general obligation urban renewal bonds paid to Robert W. Baird and Company, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The money was generated from property taxes collected at the site of the former Crossroads Mall. The area is now home to stores, restaurants, a hotel, and a sports pavilion.
When the old Crossroads Mall was bought in 2020, the city promised $18.2 million to pay back the company for demolition and infrastructure improvements.
