Formula 1 champion Lando Norris launches LN4 Fusion junior racing team

British Formula 1 champion Lando Norris, the 2025 Drivers’ Champion, unveiled his new junior racing venture, LN4 Fusion, during the week of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The team will compete in the Italian F4 Championship, the FIA Formula Regional European Championship, and the FIA Formula 3 Championship for the 2027 season, with an application already under review for a future Formula 2 entry.

Fully funded development program

Alongside the race team, Norris introduced the LN4 Legacy Programme, described as an “independent, fully funded driver development” initiative. The program aims to give talented young drivers the support, mentorship, and opportunities that Norris says were crucial to his own rise.

“I’ve been really lucky to have amazing people around me throughout my career, and I know that getting to Formula 1 takes more than just talent,” Norris said at the launch. “You need the right people, the right support, and the right opportunities at the right time.”

Experienced leadership

Rene Rosin, former founder and boss of the successful Prema junior team, will run LN4 Fusion. Julian Rouse, formerly Alpine F1’s Sporting Director, will head the LN4 Legacy Programme, bringing years of top‑level motorsport experience.

Rouse likened a racing organization to a hospital, explaining that different departments must collaborate toward a common goal while often operating independently. “A big racing team, like in Formula One, is similar in that you have many small sub‑parts all working toward the same end goal, but not always crossing paths,” he told SB Nation.

Industry backing

Dan Hazelwood, who will lead the Fusion Motorsport karting operation, praised the venture’s breadth of expertise and investment. “We have assembled a rare combination and secured the right sporting leadership in the industry: an established operation, a Formula 1 world champion, the most successful team principal in junior single‑seater racing over the past two decades, world‑class motorsport expertise, significant investment and a shared ambition to build a team capable of competing at the highest levels of the sport,” Hazelwood said.

LN4 Fusion has also acquired selected assets from AIX Racing, including that team’s entry for the 2027 Formula 3 season, giving the new outfit a solid foundation as it steps onto the junior racing ladder.

Looking ahead

The initiative reflects a growing trend among top drivers to give back to the sport by creating pathways for the next generation. With Norris’s own experience rising through McLaren’s Young Driver Programme, the LN4 projects aim to provide a more structured, well‑funded route for aspiring racers who might otherwise lack access to high‑level competition.

As the 2027 season approaches, fans and industry insiders will watch closely to see how LN4 Fusion’s blend of champion leadership, seasoned management, and financial backing translates into on‑track success and, ultimately, new talent reaching Formula 1.
