Former Us Marine Released From Russia

A former U.S. Marine who was held in Russia for more than four years on disputed charges has been released, according to his advocates. Robert Gilman, a 32-year-old teacher, was detained since 2022 and was on his way to a U.S. military hospital in Texas.

Background

Gilman’s release comes after his advocates warned that he was gravely ill and at risk of dying. Eric Lebson, chief strategy officer of Global Reach, a group that has been working to free him and other American detainees abroad, confirmed Gilman’s release.
