Former UC Quarterback Enters NFL Supplemental Draft

Former University of Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby is reportedly entering the NFL Supplemental Draft, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. This decision comes after a Texas judge granted Sorsby an injunction, allowing him to maintain his college eligibility for the 2026 season.

Background on Sorsby’s Case

Sorsby’s situation arose from a gambling scandal involving his alleged sports betting activities while a student athlete at the University of Cincinnati and Indiana University. Court documents revealed that Sorsby wagered over $90,000, including bets on Hoosiers games during his time at Indiana.

The NCAA had declared Sorsby ineligible due to these allegations. However, the recent injunction has paved the way for Sorsby to potentially play in the NFL. The NFL Supplemental Draft is scheduled to take place in July, with the deadline for entry being June 22.

Sorsby was a key player for the Cincinnati Bearcats, serving as the starting quarterback for the last two seasons. He threw 45 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while also rushing for 18 scores. His performance earned him recognition as one of the top players in the transfer portal this winter, leading to a lucrative contract with Texas Tech.
