Former Disney Channel actress Raquel Lee Bolleau has filed a lawsuit accusing The Walt Disney Company of failing to protect her from sexual abuse when she was a 14‑year‑old performer on the 2001 Disney Channel movie “The Poof Point.”
Allegations of abuse and neglect
According to the complaint obtained by Fox News Digital, an adult male employee on the set supplied Bolleau with alcohol and repeatedly sexually assaulted her during production. Bolleau says the employee told her, “You’re old enough. You can handle it,” after which the abuse continued.
She further alleges that Disney personnel encouraged her to “bond” with the employee, and that after the assaults she returned to set smelling of alcohol, vomiting and visibly changed. Rather than investigate the presence of alcohol or provide medical care, an executive allegedly branded her “out of control” and said the movie had gone “haywire.”
Claims of religious harassment and lack of supervision
The complaint also states an on‑set executive producer repeatedly told Bolleau she “needs Jesus” and told her mother, “your daughter has a demon inside her.” Bolleau asserts Disney repeatedly separated her from her guardian despite California law requiring a performer under 16 to remain within “sight or sound” of a parent or guardian.
She says her guardian was denied access to the set, was told “we do not even need you on set,” and was seated in economy class while Bolleau traveled first class back to California. During the flight, the alleged abuser allegedly instructed her to sit next to him, bring a blanket, and continued the assault until the row began de‑boarding at Los Angeles International Airport.
Legal claims and broader context
Bolleau’s lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and interest, alleging Disney violated child‑actor protections, ignored warning signs and failed to supervise the alleged abuser. Her attorneys, former government prosecutors Doug Wigdor and Jane Kim, said the conduct is “inexcusable” and must be held accountable.
The complaint adds that the alleged abuse is part of a “broader, institutional, and systemic pattern” at Disney that extends beyond the single production.
Background on the actress
Bolleau began acting as a child, appearing on “Malcolm & Eddie” before landing a role on Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show.” She later joined Disney projects, playing Marie in “The Poof Point” and voicing Nubia Gross on “The Proud Family” from 2001‑2005.
Disney has not responded to requests for comment.
