Former Democratic fundraiser alleges Ashley Biden threatened lawsuit over criticism

Washington — Lindy Li, a former Democratic fundraiser who switched her party affiliation, says she was threatened with a lawsuit by Ashley Biden after she publicly questioned President Joe Biden’s mental fitness during the 2024 election cycle.

Threat posted on Instagram

According to Li, Ashley Biden posted a hostile message on Instagram in February of last year, writing, “This woman is a bonafide liar. Karma is a real bad b—-, Lindy. I don’t know you but can’t wait to meet your a– in court. Ready for a lawsuit? Let’s go! I won’t put up with this BS anymore.” Li provided screenshots to Fox News Digital, which she says were taken down a day later.

Li’s background and motivations

Li, who previously raised money for Democratic candidates, says she left the party after observing what she described as “fear, disorganization and secrecy” surrounding the Biden administration’s decision to run for re‑election in 2024 despite concerns about the president’s age. She claims the threat was part of a broader pattern of intimidation directed at her for speaking out.

Alleged retaliation

Li alleges that after she appeared on a television program to argue that President Biden should step aside, her access to the White House vanished. She says she had previously been invited to the White House every two to three weeks, but after the appearance she was no longer welcomed and has not spoken to the president since.

Legal perspective

When Li consulted legal counsel about the Instagram threat, her attorneys dismissed the possibility of a viable lawsuit but noted that the Bidens might seek to avoid a public disclosure battle that could further expose concerns about the president’s cognitive health.

Response from the Biden camp

Representatives for Ashley Biden have not responded to requests for comment at the time of this writing.

Context of the 2024 election

The allegations come amid ongoing debate within the Democratic Party about the president’s fitness for office. While some party officials continue to support President Biden’s bid for a second term, critics—including former insiders like Li— argue that the administration’s handling of the president’s health has been opaque.

What this means for voters

Li’s claims add to a growing chorus of voices questioning the transparency of the Biden administration’s communication about the president’s condition. For voters evaluating the 2024 race, the issue of presidential fitness remains a point of contention, especially as the Trump administration emphasizes a return to clear, accountable leadership.
