The Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, covering Marion, Lake, Citrus, Hernando, and Sumter counties, has released its first-ever annual report. The report outlines the operations of the agency, which serves over 1.4 million residents.
Key Statistics
During the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the office received 40,439 referred cases and sent 2,384 defendants to prison, placing the circuit first in the state of Florida for total prison admissions. The circuit ranked third in 2021-2022 and second in both 2022-2023 and 2023-2024.
Assistant State Attorneys in the circuit conducted 379 trials in 2025, with successful prosecutions including 565 driving under the influence cases, 547 sex offenses, 413 drug trafficking cases, 121 child abuse cases, and 54 murder cases.
Community Initiatives
The annual report also features the agency’s community initiatives, including fraud prevention seminars for senior citizens, school career days, participation in human trafficking awareness events, and the 36th Annual Victims’ Remembrance Ceremony.
