A harrowing three-week ordeal for a Lee County, Florida, woman ended with a daring escape from a California balcony, culminating in the arrest of her ex-boyfriend, Floyd Stuck, after a multi-agency manhunt. The woman, whose identity remains protected, managed to flee her captor by jumping from a balcony in San Diego, California, and seeking help from a neighboring home.
Cross-Country Ordeal
The incident began on April 20 when Stuck, 41, convinced his former girlfriend to join him on a supposed brief trip to New York. Instead, he allegedly altered the plans, confiscated her phone and wallet, and drove her through multiple states including Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Nevada. Throughout the journey, Stuck reportedly assaulted the woman and threatened her family to ensure her compliance.
According to Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, the victim endured a ‘nightmare of fear and violence,’ with Stuck allegedly choking her and threatening her life. The cross-country nightmare ended in San Diego, where Stuck bound the woman with zip ties and duct tape, holding a knife to her throat and threatening to kill her by morning.
Escape and Arrest
The woman’s escape was facilitated when Stuck became distracted by a food delivery. Seizing the opportunity, she jumped from the balcony and contacted the police after reaching a neighboring home. After receiving medical treatment, she returned to Lee County in mid-May.
The situation escalated again on June 2 when Stuck was caught on the victim’s home security camera attempting to place a tracking device on her vehicle. This prompted a manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Stuck was eventually apprehended in Collier County, Florida, after fleeing a traffic stop and attempting to escape using a rideshare service.
Stuck faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and installing a tracking device without consent. Sheriff Marceno described him as a ‘calculated maniac’ with a criminal history that includes fraud, grand theft, and armed robbery. At the time of his arrest, Stuck was out on bond for an unrelated fraud case in Collier County.
Authorities continue to investigate, and Stuck may face additional charges in multiple states. His arraignment in Collier County is scheduled for June 29.
