A licensed mental health counselor in Seminole County, Florida, found over 50 bats in her office last Tuesday. The therapist, Shantala Boss, stated that the bats were everywhere, including in the toilet, sink, and even her shoes.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, it is illegal to remove bats during maternity season, which runs from April 16 to August 14. The commission prohibits attempts to harm or harass bats with lights, sounds, or toxic substances, as well as the capture and relocation of bats.
Boss has since moved her office across the street, with a sign on her door notifying clients of the change. Her landlord took steps to address the situation by putting cones in the roof to help the bats leave and prevent them from returning.
Boss expressed gratitude for her landlord’s assistance in relocating her workspace. Her former office is now empty and bat-free.
