Florida Man Arrested After Alleged Three-Week Kidnapping Spree

A man from Florida, Floyd Stuck, 41, has been apprehended following accusations of kidnapping a woman and taking her on a harrowing three-week journey across the United States. The ordeal ended in Collier County, Florida, after a police chase involving a U-Haul truck.

Details of the Incident

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was initially told they were traveling to New York to visit family. However, Stuck allegedly changed plans en route to the airport, acting erratically and threatening the victim with harm to her family if she did not comply with his demands. This marked the beginning of a cross-country ordeal that included stops in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Nevada.

During this time, Stuck reportedly confiscated the victim’s phone, threatened her life, and physically restrained her. In San Diego, California, the victim managed to escape by jumping off a balcony and seeking help from a neighbor.

Arrest and Charges

After the victim’s escape, Stuck continued to harass her using multiple fake phone numbers. Surveillance footage later captured him attempting to place an AirTag on her vehicle. Authorities tracked him to Collier County, where he rented a U-Haul. A police chase ensued, ending when Stuck crashed the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being captured by a K-9 unit.

Stuck faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and unlawful installation of a tracking device. He is also wanted in Maryland for using fake bombs in robberies.

Community Response

Advocates from the Shelter for Abused Women and Girls in Collier County emphasize the importance of seeking help in dangerous situations. Tama Caldarone, the shelter’s legal director, highlighted the challenges victims face when trying to escape controlling situations.
