A fatal industrial accident occurred in the Florida Keys on July 14, 2026. Victor Vivian Cano Franco, 37, a resident of Marathon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at approximately 11:22 a.m. at 4250 Overseas Highway in Marathon. According to investigators, the incident took place in an area of the property where rock is crushed into smaller pieces. Franco appeared to have been struck in the mid-section by a front-end loader, resulting in fatal injuries.
Sheriff’s Office detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials stated that foul play is not believed to be a factor in the death. An autopsy is pending to determine the official cause of death, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified of the workplace accident.
