Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia marked his first year in office, highlighting a law enforcement crackdown that led to more than 1,200 arrests and millions of dollars in recovered restitution.
Fraud Crackdown Yields Results
Over the past year, the Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigations Division (CID) arrested 1,219 individuals, resulting in $38 million in court-ordered restitution. The Bureau of Insurance Fraud made 634 arrests, while the Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives recorded 344 arrests. Additionally, the Bureau of Public Assistance Fraud referred 322 cases to prosecutors, representing an estimated $8 million in public assistance fraud.
In a statement addressing the milestone, Ingoglia praised his division’s investigative work and vowed to continue targeting fraudulent activity across the state. Several county law enforcement leaders expressed support for the state agency’s joint operations.
